So I spent the afternoon watching a group of sleeping thrre years olds. Don't you miss the days of afternnon naps? It was so peaceful: the dimly lit room, the music, the sound of baby snores. I had to be careful not to drift off myself. After they woke up I did some puzzles with a few of the kids and it was funny listening to them count and skip numbers. They're so little and think they know so much. And they want you to know they know and acknowledge their three year old brilliance.

I love this time of year. The way the light changes, not just in the amount of time we have light, but in the angle of the light, how everything looks filtered. I love the cool breezes on warm days, the changing of the leaves, the preparations we undertake in order to prepare for winter. I love apple cider and pumpkin shaped sugar cookies. I love rainy nights and blustery days. I love the Peanuts Halloween Special and Thanksgiving Special, even through I recognize it as unmitigated sappiness. I love drinking tea and reading books and the time to look forward to seeing my family the one time out of the year I really get to spend time with them. As a Virgo, I love this season because it is time to start putting everything back in order after the chaotic growth of spring and the wildness of summer. It is a tie to take stock of what we have and what we'll need for the coming hibernation. Autumn is the time of the year we take time to really stop and reflect on where we've been and where we are going.
